Dexter - Gender Swapping
Dexter, a TV series about Dexter, a secret serial killer working as blood specialist in police department, is an interesting TV show to analyze how the show would be if Gender swapping were happened. Gender swapping would definitely affect in relationships between men and women but change in genders also would affect in relationship between the people and social standings or something like relationships around the people gender swapped in some ways.
Back to gender swapping in Dexter, it would be interesting to see gender swapping in Dexter and his sister Debra. Dexter is a main male character in this show, a serial killer and blood analyst and his sister Debra, also working in police department as a police officer. They are good brother and sister helping each other but his sister doesn't know that Dexter is a serial killer involving crime cases she is chasing as a police officer. In the case of Dexter, a male character is a psychopath killing people under the name of justice and a female character is a police officer who is chasing the serial killer, his brother, and I think gender swapping in them would be interesting because a female serial killer chased by her brother who is also police officer would probably be a new challenge.
I found it interesting to see gender swapping in this show because, as I said, that would be a new concept show that a female serial killer (I don't usually see the female character) involves a lot of crime cases her brother chases. In Dexter, Dexter involves a lot of crime scenes and dangerous situations but he solves most of problems by himself because he is able to solve them physically as a man. And also he involves a lot of romances with women as progressed and these girls are involved to his crimes because a relative to a man could easily be a target for enemies. But if a female character were a serial killer, then I guess entire concept of the show would be focused into more drama among relationship around a female character because if she dealt with other killers or victims, that would be a bit more harder for her to deal with these problems by herself so that it would be more drama in her human relationships. Dexter is a good show continued to 8 seasons successfully balancing dramas around him and crimes, however, if that would be her a serial killer, then it would be totally different type of TV show because of the change in genders.
There is some obvious differences that men and women in certain situation could do or couldn't do. That could be stereo typing but in Media that exists. If Gender swapping is happened in any kind of show, that would be interesting in some ways to see the differences how people think about genders and how it actually change the situation and environment about them.

Fast and Furious
I chose a movie "Fast and Furious" to talk about Gender dynamic index and Gender and sexuality tropes.
First of all, In a film "The mask you live in" talks about how genders determine the actions and behaviors of men and women in films. Men have to be men and women have to be women in films to differentiate them and make audiences understand stories easier, however, in real life there are no such differences between men and women based on their actions, behaviors, and thoughts.
In the movie "Fast and Furious", it represents masculinity and femininity in ways of being men and being women surrounded by a lot of men. The movie is an action movie that is about racing, and along with the topic there naturally be a lot of aggressive men and sexy women. Men in this film are always represented as masculine because men in racing field should always be represented manly strong, and women in same field are always represented feminine and sexy because of the way it should be. They are into the same field, racing, but the ways they are represented divided by gender is double standard, men should be this and women should be that.
There are also tropes applied to "Fast and Furious". One of tropes is Affirmative Action Girl. Women in films are usually represented as passive, however, Affirmative Action Girl is a girl who takes actions like men in films. In this movie, there are two girls in the main group and they are represented as more active than passive. And addition to that, another trope is girls around the mains are different. Even though there are many women in this film, the main two female characters are represented sexy but also strong and they have some kind of Men side represented in the film. And the third trope is, as I mentioned, Only Masculine men and Sexy women. In this film with the topic there are only(99%) masculine men and sexy women. Men wear clothes that emphasize their masculinity and women wear anything that makes them look sexy and attractive for men. Because the topic and gender rules applied to the topic, their actions and behaviors are obviously determined and represented by their gender identification.
Gender is one of the biggest categories to divide us from another, so that there naturally be differences between men and women when represented in films because the diving could help audiences to understand more of its contents. Sometimes it is represented subtly and sometimes it is represented obviously but there could be no films that has no gender differences at all because no differences on genders might confuse audiences to understand films.

Bechdel Test
I choose Spiderman as an example of analyzing how the Bechdel test and reverse Bechdel are applied to its context. The reason why I choose Spiderman is that there is one female character a main character(Spiderman) loves and there is a friend/enemy who also loves the same female character. Spiderman is an action movie and battle scenes with main enemies are always the main scenes of movies in any series of the movie.
However, there always be certain story lines that related to his love toward main female character. and there is only one other female character in Spiderman, his aunt. There are only two female characters in the movies, who are his lover and aunt. There are only two female characters and they are not even friends or relatives, but the conversation they had in the movie related to a man, Peter Parker, Spiderman. The main female character and his aunt, only two female characters in the movie always talk about his man or his nephew. This is interesting that even in the movie like Spiderman, there are always female characters talking about a man.
Additionally, when Spiderman and his friend who loves the main female character talk, not all the time but a lot of the time they are talking, they talk about their lovers, the main female character. the love story line on this movie is a little bit complicated because the main female character was, at first, Spiderman’s secret lover and his friend was actually dating with her. But as the movie progressed, the main female character was saved by Spiderman and they started getting along with.
In Spiderman, there is more likely to The Smurfette Principle than Never a self-made Woman. His lover and aunt are interacted to other male characters such as Spiderman, the main enemy, and his friends. There are more male characters than female characters and they are interacted in different ways in the movie. The main female character is interacted to Spiderman as a lover, his friend as an ex-lover, and the main enemy kidnapped her in the movie. His aunt is interacted in similar ways.
It is surprising that even in spiderman, there are always the possibility of Bechdel test and other test applied and failed them in certain ways. The gender roles are always played in any movies and behind that, there is always interaction between males and females.
The Manic Pixie Dream Girl
I choose The Manic Pixie Dream Girl as a trope that I want to talk about. The Manic Pixie Dream Girl is a girl who is attractive, energetic, high on life, and basically different from other girls and the type of girl tend to attract men in many different ways. They attract men who are brave, strong, handsome, and pure. And in movies and TV shows, these girls are important to the main story or main character in the show.
Who I want to talk about as an example of The Manic Pixie Girl is a girl from TV series called “Breaking Bad”. Her name is Krysten Ritter, in Breaking Bad her name is Jane, a lover of one of the main character, Jesse Pinkman, a drug dealer. She died after Jesse makes out with her and overdoses Heroin.
Her character in Breaking Bad is not a perfect model of The Manic Pixie Dream Girl but her role has some of its aspect.
When Jesse Pinkman met her, he was devastated because of all the situation around him. And Jane also has a dark side of her life, however, her mysterious but energetic and attractive behavior started making Jesse happy and come back to his life. Jesse, who grows up as a drug dealer, has never been loved and felt but after he met Jane, he immediately attracted to her because of her personality as “The Manic Dream Girl” who also loved him and felt similarity on him.
Her character in Breaking Bad has a big influence to Jesse and Walt, the main man even though she appears and dies in only season 2. Because of her existence, Jesse Pinkman finds a purpose to go through all the mess in his life and come back to his life with Walt. Even after she died, Jesse still loves her and that motivates him in certain way to make him stick what he is doing with Walt. In Breaking Bad, Jesse is one of Two main characters so that Breaking Bad is not what it is without Jesse and her existence definitely affects the how in some ways.
Girls in movies and TV shows are really important for them to progress. They don’t have girls for no reasons in the shows. Especially girls like “The Manic Dream Girl”, since they have very open and energetic personality normally, they attract men and change the flow of shows. In real life, this always happens to men and women. A partner is really important to change the flow of your life in good ways or sometimes bad ways…
Movies and shows are not just creation, it is sometimes what happens in our real life.

Scenes from the Class Struggle in Springfield
In an episode Scenes from the Class Struggle in Springfield, starting from Marge Simpson finding a nice dress at discount store, meeting her old rich friend at gas station, and being invited to the country club for rich people, this episode is related to their desire to be socially better and the reality they are facing. Because they are not that rich and have never had an opportunity to go to a place like the country club, Homer Simpson and two kids are reluctant to go there and be a part of rich community. However, Marge Simpson wants to join the country club because she just wants to be a part of rich community to be seen as a socially better family.
As the episode goes on, Simpson family faces a lot of struggles between rich people lives and their reality. Marge has a really nice dress but ONE nice dress, Homer doesn't have his own golf clubs, and two kids don't even know what the rich lives are. Rich people watch them like they are evaluating if they can fit into their community. Marge does her best to be welcomed to their community sewing her one dress to different styles and asking her family to behave right. However, at the day the country club was about to accept them as one of members, Marge realizes that she forces her family to look better to be accepted, and that is not what family is about. At the end of the episode, she, at fast-food restaurant. says This is more comfortable place.
In Marxist theory, rich stays rich and poor stays poor. Simpson's family is the representation of have-nots, in other word, they are not poor but not good enough to be a part of the rich community. They feel more comfortable at where they are used to be. Rich people spend time with rich people at the place where they always be, and others stay with others even though rich people were actually about to accept Simpson's family into their rich community.

Breaking Bad -Marxist analysis-
Breaking bad is a TV series about a chemistry teacher start making pure meth to make more money for his family after he was told that he has a cancer and can't live for a long time. He wasn't poor, but one episode shows that he is invited to his former coworker' party who is nominated for some honorable prize as a scientist, and sees how rich his former coworker is now. He now has a life as a chemistry teacher in high school making just enough money to live, and as a drug dealer taking risk to make money for his family to survive if he dies. He is a very serious and thoughtful man for his family so that he starts making meth with knowledge he has as chemistry teacher meantime his former coworker who is nominated for some honorable prize has a better life worrying about nothing in his life including financial situation.
This conflict makes main chemistry man try to make more money by making more drugs and sell them. In one or two seasons, he makes money by making and selling drugs for his family to survive if anything happens but as the story goes on, his life becomes more involved to dealing drugs, and unescapable from what he does. In marxist theory which explains the dividing line between rich and poor, society is created for rich people to stay rich and poor people stay poor. This applies to Breaking Bad, main chemistry man. He wasn't poor but to make more money for his family to survive, he needs to make meth. He has to do something illegal to get out of his financial situation. the dividing line is seen and that is one of the reasons why he has to make drugs.
