I choose The Manic Pixie Dream Girl as a trope that I want to talk about. The Manic Pixie Dream Girl is a girl who is attractive, energetic, high on life, and basically different from other girls and the type of girl tend to attract men in many different ways. They attract men who are brave, strong, handsome, and pure. And in movies and TV shows, these girls are important to the main story or main character in the show.
Who I want to talk about as an example of The Manic Pixie Girl is a girl from TV series called “Breaking Bad”. Her name is Krysten Ritter, in Breaking Bad her name is Jane, a lover of one of the main character, Jesse Pinkman, a drug dealer. She died after Jesse makes out with her and overdoses Heroin.
Her character in Breaking Bad is not a perfect model of The Manic Pixie Dream Girl but her role has some of its aspect.
When Jesse Pinkman met her, he was devastated because of all the situation around him. And Jane also has a dark side of her life, however, her mysterious but energetic and attractive behavior started making Jesse happy and come back to his life. Jesse, who grows up as a drug dealer, has never been loved and felt but after he met Jane, he immediately attracted to her because of her personality as “The Manic Dream Girl” who also loved him and felt similarity on him.
Her character in Breaking Bad has a big influence to Jesse and Walt, the main man even though she appears and dies in only season 2. Because of her existence, Jesse Pinkman finds a purpose to go through all the mess in his life and come back to his life with Walt. Even after she died, Jesse still loves her and that motivates him in certain way to make him stick what he is doing with Walt. In Breaking Bad, Jesse is one of Two main characters so that Breaking Bad is not what it is without Jesse and her existence definitely affects the how in some ways.
Girls in movies and TV shows are really important for them to progress. They don’t have girls for no reasons in the shows. Especially girls like “The Manic Dream Girl”, since they have very open and energetic personality normally, they attract men and change the flow of shows. In real life, this always happens to men and women. A partner is really important to change the flow of your life in good ways or sometimes bad ways…
Movies and shows are not just creation, it is sometimes what happens in our real life.
